Skoda Peaq Electric SUV Under Consideration for India, Global Debut Scheduled for June 23
Skoda is considering bringing its flagship electric SUV, the all-new Peaq, to India following its global debut on June 23, 2026. Featuring up to 600 kilometres of claimed range, fast-charging technology, three-row seating and premium features, the Peaq could become the largest and most advanced electric vehicle in Skoda’s Indian lineup.
The possibility of bringing the Peaq to India has gained momentum following comments from Skoda Auto India Brand Director Ashish Gupta, who confirmed that the vehicle is on the company’s radar. Gupta stated that the manufacturer’s priority is to offer a fully equipped premium product rather than introduce a stripped-down version at a high price. He also emphasized that Skoda aims to have its global portfolio represented in India over the coming years.
Although the company has not announced an official launch timeline, the Peaq has emerged as one of the strongest contenders from Skoda’s international electric vehicle lineup for the Indian market.
Skoda currently markets several electric vehicles globally, including the Epiq, Elroq and Enyaq. However, these models may face pricing and positioning challenges in India. Industry expectations suggest that the Peaq could serve as a flagship product capable of strengthening Skoda’s electric vehicle identity in the country while laying the foundation for future locally developed electric models.
The company has already confirmed that work on a domestic electric vehicle strategy is underway, though a locally manufactured electric model remains some time away from launch.
Internationally, the Skoda Peaq will be available in three variants: 60, 90 and 90x. The model will be offered with 63 kWh and 91 kWh battery packs. The range-topping 90x variant will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 299 horsepower.
The lower-specification variants will be powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor delivering up to 286 horsepower. According to Skoda, the Peaq is capable of providing a driving range exceeding 600 kilometres, depending on the variant selected.
The electric sport utility vehicle will also support high-speed direct current charging, enabling the battery to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 27 to 28 minutes.
Positioned as a full-size electric sport utility vehicle, the Peaq will feature three rows of seating and place a strong emphasis on practicality, technology and premium comfort. The model is expected to offer contemporary design elements, a spacious interior, advanced connected technologies and the latest safety features.
As the flagship of Skoda’s global electric vehicle portfolio, the Peaq is expected to play a significant role in demonstrating the manufacturer’s long-term electric mobility ambitions.
While an official confirmation for India is still pending, recent statements from company executives indicate that the premium electric sport utility vehicle is under serious consideration. With a claimed driving range of more than 600 kilometres, rapid charging capability and a premium market position, the Skoda Peaq could become a major addition to the brand’s future strategy in India if it receives final approval for launch.
